Using the new Cricut sync for backing up and saving files

Wow! Didn't you just love Mrs. B's lovely gift bag. I loved the color So elegant!! I always learn a lot from the designer's .All the designer's here in Tuesday Treats , She's a Sassy Lady and also from other blogs as well like Everyday Cricut, Creative Critters. Think of it- they do not get much perks. My poor designer's don't get any. They are so big hearted that they share their gift with us. Just wanted to say Thank you. I appreciate and admire you all for your kindness.
Now I was asked this - using the dreaded Cricut Sync. And I approached it like I would a snake with a large pole. Well it looks like a garden snake now :) - after causing all the trouble these last few days. Still never know. Maybe it's just hidden it's rattles ;)

So here is the photo tutorial. The captions say it all.click on it to enlarge. Have fun.
Note the first time I did this when I went to set location it froze my computer. Ctrl alt del didn't even bring up the windows task manager. I just pulled the plug and the battery out and then started it again. So  if you have a poor old computer like mine - beware

set up location for back up

opens up your computer to store. Navigate to where you want to go.

I always make a folder which makes sense to me

Backing it up from File menu -> Backup Gypsy Data

To choose individual files just select file. For multiple files shift click or hold and drag till they go green.

Right click to get options

Generic message.

Opens up automatically the location as we set it before

Note the green bars to show they are being added/processed

The file on the location - snapshot

Now to load files from computer on to Gypsy.I chose the circle magazine files

And Add project - so project being added. Again note green bars. This time they will be on the G.

Christmas Gift Bag

Hi Crafters! This is CindyB from MrsBscraftroom joining you again today. Thank you Pam for giving me another opportunity to share with your followers!

Well, since the theme for this month is Christmas, I thought it fitting to start creating some gift bags for the Holiday season.

This is a gift bag with a mitten embellishment. Super simple to make... Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
Hugs, CindyB

Imagine - Adding images from Imagine cartridges and update sizing error

Oh Oh - Yet another post by me today?
Sorry Denine! But this one I promised a MB member I will do. And if I do not post my addled brain tends to forget and this is something which may help another person too. So

Now first let me share a cool thing I found which probably you all already know.
I know - I know - dumb right? But I got to play with Imagine just now.  All in all I have spent about 2 hours with it and in that 1 and half have gone just for updating. My back is still toss
Now when you add an image from Imagine and you want to layer it and change the colors instead of individually going and changing each layer and adding - you just have to go to the first image and edit and add and all get added to the image queue
How stupid was I  - editing each and every image
 here are the pics

That's the image I want to add

Once I select that  I first want to layer it. Right now it is combined. But edit will still show you layers as you can change the colors. But it will get combined and still cut in one single piece

Just showing the relative size button .Note it is white

Now I have the layer button on it will cut each layer shown . I have now changed the size to 5.3

Note the green box around the 2nd image (and of course the 1st image gets selected as it is layers so it will be also green) but the size here remains 5.3 without me having to change - very important as you will see later with ordinary cartridge what the glitch is

3rd image now has green box ie 2nd layer of the image and note again the size

Now I make sure I just select the 1st image and then click on it and then choose + and see how both layers have been added

Now if I want to delete sometimes without zoom feature there yet it is difficult to grab so instead go back by pressing back and delete from image queue by pressing backspc just like in G

And now to show how this update has fixed the sizing issue in only the Imagine cartridges (caused by the last sync version 2.0.2.1 or something)

If I change the relative size in one layer of the image - I have set it to 3.8

the other remains the same ie 3.8 without getting resetted (wow isn't reset itself the past tense :) )

Now let's compare the cricut original cartridge - our friend the nifty fifty.  why do I have this cartridge ? I was only born in nifty sixty so gaiety eighty will make more sense.
But that is rather beside the point :)
So without  comments to intersperse the pics. Note how in each layer it gets reset to 2.0. And of course original cartridges do not have combined. S it gets painful as if you want the layers to align then you have to note the height you set which itself is painful changing as there is no way to key in numbers but you have to use the up and down arrow key

My Imagine update fiasco!! ahh Story

That was such a beauiful cards by Denine wasn't it. My with limited supplies what this girl can do.
Now why is she creating when she is travelling? I tend to tune off but guess I carry food an am worried about that more than my crafting :).Have to learn from this girl

Well you know I have been HANGING in the G tech this past 2 days with all this cricut sync and oh my G updated but Imagine.
Well her's my story and hopefully someone will benefit from my struggles

I have windows XP Sp3 all beautifully updated and running superb
cricut sync 2.0.2.7
beautifully communicating with the Gypsy
Imagine (0096:0013:0239:202A)

Then tried to do update but then headache time!!
Seriously this cricut sync is taking a toll on my patience!
After 2 days of breatihng this in and out in G tech and seeing countless problems surfacing and so many people suffering my patience with this was stretched thin as it is
For those for whom this thing went smooth as butter BOOOOO!!!
Mine went fine in G. My G is good girl
But this I - has been nothing but Trouble from day 1. atleast I think it is warming up to me
this one did not go that bad
but pain enough
First I did the adobe air  - which is the run time environment for adobe products and since this uses something of adobe most probably the flash player  - we have to do the update and so I did the update yet again
Then ran the crcut sync
Duh!! haven't I told people countless times to restart well guess how tired and off my hed I was
but asking for a driver Gadget serial v2.4
(now I know some are available from some sites but can I trust that - do not want a virus on my already poor beaten computer)

Here are screen shots Crying

well after this I decided to restart my computer and work with fill stomach and then came up and switched on and off the computer for a couple of times and then voila

driver updating

Again the pesky wizard

at last some other message than driver v2.4

Ok I trust you - Go on !! Go On

Just get on with it buddy . Grrrr...

Now this was a loop content updating and then going  back

6 times  it kept happening After 2 - 3 times I used to close C sync and try again
when finally

Yippee and my Imagine goes from

to this

and after all the updating

and the proof

woohoo!!
